Dominican Young Adults Attend History Making ConferenceBy Sr. Lori Kirchman, OP(MADISON, WI) This past weekend in Madison, Wisconsin, some young adults attended a conference that made history. As a result of this conference there is now a national organization called Dominican Young Adults-USA. On Sunday, June 22, 19 young adults made a commitment to live out the four pillars of Dominican life: prayer, study, community and preaching. They promised to participate in both personal and communal prayer, to study the Word of God and the signs of the times. They also promised to engage in preaching the Word of God through service to their local communities. These 19 young adults will take this commitment back to their colleges in the hopes of beginning local Chapters all over the United States. This newly formed USA entity will soon begin the process of asking for membership into the International Dominican Young Adult Movement. This will allow some of the USA members to attend the 2009 International Dominican Young Adult Movement in Portugal.
