Global Climate ChangeGlobal Climate Change is not just some current concern which will fade out as time goes on. It is an issue that addresses our very existence on Earth. Does this last statement seem a little exaggerated? It isn’t. While there has been some dissent over this issue, the vast majority of scientists in the world agree that climate change is occurring and that it is human induced. The lack of consensus centers on how quickly the projected ramifications are occurring or will occur. The United Nations, world governments, and all major faith traditions are acknowledging our moral responsibility and calling all of us to action. The Vatican and the world’s Bishops, including those in the U. S., have addressed global warming as a serious matter for study and action. The members of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious and Council of Major Superiors of Men passed a joint resolution on Climate Change at their 2008 annual assembly. The fact sheets are offered in the hope of condensing a great deal of material into a shorter, more understandable presentation.
