srbethSister Beth Murphy, OP, travelled to Iraq April 10-25, 2010, to join the second assembly of the Dominican friars who serve in the Arab world. The group included Iraqi, French, and Egyptian friars who serve in those countries and Algeria.  Her trip also allowed her time with the Dominican sisters and laity. What follows is a brief summary of her experience: three essential gleanings from the journey. A longer more comprehensive account, The Pilgrims' Journey: Love and Hope, Courage and Resistance in Iraq is also available.

springfield associates icon(Springfield, Ill) The Dominican Sisters of Springfield welcomed 32 new Associates during the morning liturgy at Sacred Heart Convent Chapel on Sunday, May 16, 2010. Sister Barbara Blesse, OP, Vicaress General, accepted the formal commitments of each new Associate.

Iraq Action Alert from the Dominican Sisters PDF Print E-mail

(Springfield, Ill) Four buses full of Christian students left Karakosh, Iraq on Nineveh Plain for Mosul University on Sunday May 2nd. Just outside the village limits a car bomb exploded, injuring at least 188 students on the buses and killing one bystander. The Dominican Sisters ask that you please pray and take urgent action steps to help address the situation.
