My name is Sister Karen Freund, and presently I live and work at our Motherhouse as part of our leadership team.
For as long as I can remember, words have fascinated me. As a child I loved to create stories about the people in my mom’s Sear’s Catalog. Love of words drew me to study English Literature and Scripture. In the latter I recognize that Jesus used words to make connections and bring people insight.
In my 43 years of ministry I have done teaching, pastoral care, administration, and spiritual formation. My work has sometimes involved formal preaching, but more often has been simply being with people in significant moments of marriage, birth, sickness, or death. Words have sometimes proved less important than presence. I have invariably received more than I gave. |
